Billy Baldwin Stories is part of Decozen Books, an independent children’s book publisher, based in Sag Harbor, NY. We create beautiful, collectable children’s books for readers aged 5+.
Our books champion the underdog as hero. From characters facing adversity and challenges to those exploring unique, colorful new worlds, the stories span a creative universe.
Billy’s journey as a storyteller began years ago when he founded a cookie company and created Cookie Island, a magical world designed to bring his brand to life. This early passion for world-building eventually led him to children’s literature.
Though early struggles with dyslexia made reading and writing a challenge, Billy transformed these obstacles into creative advantages, using his rich imagination to develop a unique narrative voice. His stories often feature underdogs who overcome adversity and learn to celebrate their idiosyncrasies as true gifts.
Based in the coastal town of Sag Harbor, NY, Billy draws inspiration from the local bays and beaches, where he continues to create, paddle, and bake for friends.

Liesl aims to bring a little joy and kindness to
any occasion. If a smile is worth a thousand words, the combination of these stories and her vibrant illustrations is worthy of a mountain of giggles.
Liesl’s experiences in theatre, fashion, and graphic design have conglomerated into work that is both whimsical and quirky, adding delightful nuance to Billy Baldwin Stories.
Currently residing in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, Liesl finds inspiration in the scenic beauty surrounding her home, where she lives with her son and father overlooking the iconic Supertubes surf spot.
MEET THE ILLUSTRATOR
CHAD ARLE was raised just outside of Boston, MA, Chad has been writing stories since he first learned how to spell. After years of crafting characters and worlds, performing onstage, and producing original musicals, Chad moved to New York to study film and media at Columbia University. He quickly found a passion for screenwriting and film production, and began building a portfolio of original feature films, pilots, and film treatments.
After 5 years in New York, Chad moved to Los Angeles to work directly with award-winning filmmaker Brad Lewis on Spire Animation Studios’ first feature film. Chad now works as the Creative Development Coordinator for Billy Baldwin Stories, overseeing film and television adaptation and development. He lives in Los Angeles, CA, with his girlfriend and dog Bailey.
