Heller_Billy Baldwin 7-22-20_3521

Creator of numerous stories for Children & Young Adults, The self-confessed daydreamer Billy Baldwin lives in Sag Harbor, NY. Following his passions and gifts, Billy began his career by founding a cookie company called Cookie Island.

More than just producing delicious cookies that sold throughout the US, Billy marketed his products through stories, characters and graphics that caught the attention of executives within the entertainment industry. When encouraged to develop his marketing vision into children’s books and products Billy founded Decozen Publishing and began a new career as a writer.

Diagnosed with Dyslexia at an early age Billy has had to overcome the challenges he faces with reading and writing to transform them into a creative advantage. His quick ability to envision characters, situations and unusual story lines help him to express what matters most to him in all his work: The ability to triumph over adversity and the celebration of the underdog. In addition to his creative endeavors Billy is involved with numerous Not-For-Profit organizations and activities.

Billy co founded the Web International Center for Dyslexia along with Dr. Gertrude Web. Combining his passion for water sports with his love of the environment Billy founded the Great Peconic Race that is a paddle board race around Shelter Island, helping to fund the Cornell University Environmental Preservation Program.

About the illustrator Liesl Bell

Born and raised by artists in South Africa, Liesl moved to New York after obtaining a university degree in set and costume design. She worked in fashion and advertising in the Big Apple and eventually started her illustration career by creating corporate illustrations for IBM and Xerox’s Human Resources Intranet website.

After 13 years she went back to the warmth of the South African sun and started a line of handcrafted greeting cards and illustrated numerous educational and private children’s books, one of which was awarded the ‘This Book Rocks’ Award for Illustration.

Liesl's motto is: Create with a smile and a wink.  She now lives and illustrates fulltime in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, with her young son and their menagerie of pets, in a house that overlooks the world-famous Supertubes surf spot.

Liesl and Billy have created six books together.
